Music can give a total escapism of mind to us. Some people use music to express their truest feelings and soul. Some people use music to cure their broken heart. Undeniably, music truly has a tremendous influence on humans mind, moods and emotions. What is music actually?…

What is so special about it that we don’t know yet?….

According to Wikipedia, music is an art form in which the medium is sound organized in time. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs harmony and melody, rhythm (and its associated concepts such as articulation, meter and tempo, and not to forgot…the sonic qualities of texture and timbre. The word ‘MUSIC’ itself derives from the ancient word of Greek ‘mousike’ which means ‘arts of the Muses. The ancient Indian and Greek philosophers defines music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies.

Everyone know that playing musical instruments is really enjoyable, fun and entertaining.

But…did you know that by listening to music or playing a musical instrument can boost your brain power and helps builds your self confidence. And it doesn’t matter if you love to play guitar, piano, drums, percussions, djembe or any other unique musical instruments. Listening to music and playing musical instruments does have its own magical qualities and can give you a lot of benefits.

So, for the kids out there who still studying and always have a dilemma whether to play music or to memorize a math formula, here is the strong and hard evidence fact that playing music will not jeopardize your exam’s result. In fact, it will help strengthens your minds and help you get an excellent exam result.

Go on, read it…open your mind and be amazed!…

Did you know that middle school and high school students who participated in playing instrumental music scores significantly higher than their non-band peers in standardized tests. University studies conducted in Texas and Georgia found significant correlations between the numbers of years of instrumental music instruction and academic achievement in math, language, science and arts.

And oh yes, for those ignorant bastards out there who saying that by playing music can make you a lazy bum and risk of getting an F in any exam paper. You better read this fact, with both of your eyes please.

Music study can help kids understand advanced math concepts. A grasp of proportional math and fractions is a prerequisite to math at higher levels, and children who do not master these areas cannot understand more advanced math-critical to high tech fields. Music involves fractions, ratios, proportions and thinking in space and time. Second grade students were given 4 moths of piano and keyboard training, as well as time using newly designed math software. The group scored over 27% higher on proportional math and fraction tests than children who used only the math software. Source: Neurological Research March, 1999

And here is another fact that showing that there is nothing wrong with playing music while you are young and still studying. In fact, it can help you to boost your self confidence. Plus, in the aspects of social developments, playing music also helps you score many hot chicks…hehehe…

Data from the National Educational Longitunal Study of 1988 showed that music participants received more academic honors and awards than non-music students. Plus, the percentage of music participants receiving A’s was higher than the percentage of non-participants receiving those grades.

Last but not least, listening to music and learning how to play a musical instrument is a great mind therapy itself. Truthfully and undeniably, music education can be a positive force on all aspects of child’s life, particularly on their academic success. So, for any parents who read this articles…please stop pressuring your children to be perfect in every aspect of life. Because the truth is, human being is never perfect. And sometimes, in truth, it is the flaw in ourselves that make us unique.

And oh yeah, another thing…stop pressuring your children into taking the courses that he or she don’t like. If he or she likes studying music, let him or her studying music. If he or she likes studying art, let him or her studying arts. Your child is a gift for you from The God above. Not your cash cow.

Last but not least, for all underground music lovers, independent thinkers, spiritual souls and anybody who love music because of the music itself…stay true, stay strong and stay unite….
